come fly with me

Listening to Ray LaMontagna
Sipping coffee black
Tap tapping the phone's tiny key images
Posting above the billowed puffs of cloud
Alongside a hundred or so strangers
strapped-in to sit still

Monotonous static hum fills the cabin
w/pressure of muffled baby cries
Head bobbing to the Black Keys
Wearing sunglasses prescribed

Floating over criss-crossed lines
cement painted and poured
soldiers standing in familial formation
Huddled around underground holes filled wet
Nine linked lawns flanking
stubby tendrils poking
Rooted in mortgaged commitment
Reaching for recessive retirement

Ears plugged
Johnny Mellencamp's young lovers mature
Bettye LaVette covers time to live
Tweedy turns his face up to the sun
Nick Lowe plays fast once more

Sipping lukewarm coffee from a styrofoam cup
Acoustic AIC perform heaven live
Littered blotchy white
Over the horizon bleeding blue
Bumpy invisibility
Smokes grey and blind

Swerved and curved river wide
Girth snaking east and west
Doubling back and over
Confused by erosion
Corridor of confidence
Commanding vessels into wild waters
Delta dumping

We pay our debt sometime...
Clouds thinned w/cans of convenience
Fields carpeted over sick soil
Surrendering to humanity's humor
Delivered innately, generationaly
Ignited by denial
Ignored by heads clouded with state and main
Reflecting no reason
Regarding no remedy
Realization fleeting, feverishly flung in song

Lyrically loved
Caressed communication
Sharing secrets forgotten to be told
We live in a beautiful world.
Silhouetted by the setting sun
This can't be undone.

I’ll run. I’ll fight

"who are you to tell me it'll always be this way?”
~the martinis

When all I want is something different and you can’t give it to me
liar
linked by chains
chained
levels of life

intersections of hardwoods and cotton balls
sparkling tips of wheat colored grass
standing tall enough to mask true height
field of dancing glitter
bending blades pointing
at stoic greens and hills made of sand
where deer appear in the lost rays of sun’s set

“so free for the moment
lost somewhere between the earth and the sky
so free for the moment
lost because I wanna be lost
don’t try to find me"
~the martinis

peace, love, understanding ~L

Thank you Lord for understanding women.
Women hear me.  Women know what I'll say before I say it.  Women move closer when they see tears.  Women touch, distract, remember, realize, and touch again.  Women in my life are special and I hope I treat them as such.

Lately I have not felt like myself, like I should, like I expect to.  The cobwebs are accumulating and cross stitching inside my mind.  No room for additional thought patterns, no open runways to land on.  Clouds hover over my damaged wing.  The wing I repaired over the year is still weak.  Still hurting.  My new feathers wilting under the typhoon of sound.  The carousel's lights flash and I'm blinded temporarily.  All the horses and tigers smile as they circle past.  No open seats for this rider.  The queue for you.

Exit, reads the sign.  Purge and push open that steel door.  Walk slowly down the dark alley.  Don't look over your shoulder.  Keep your eyes on the blue light, gradually enlarging to the rhythm of your steps.  Feel the faint breeze on your cheek, smell the rain and the possibility.  Breathe.  Breathe deeper.  Almost there.  You're so close.  You're going to make it.  Concentrate and keep moving.  Let your soul sense direction and your body follow.  Stop questioning.  Stop wondering.  Embrace the warmth of anticipation manifested within.

walk out into the sunburst street sing your heart out sing my heart out I found grace inside a sound I found grace that's all that I found and I can breathe breathe now breathe (U2)

EC's poetry

I Want You

Oh my baby baby I love you more than I can tell
I don't think I can live without you
And I know that I never will
Oh my baby baby I want you so it scares me to death
I can't say anymore than I love you
Everything else is a waste of breath

I want you
You've had your fun you don't get well no more
I want you
Your fingernails go dragging down the wall
Be careful darling you might fall
I want you
I woke up and one of us was crying
I want you
You said Young man I do believe you're dying
I want you
If you need a second opinion as you seem to do these days
I want you
You can look in my eyes and you can count the ways
I want you
Did you mean to tell me but seem to forget
I want you
Since when were you so generous and inarticulate
I want you
It's the stupid details that my heart is breaking for
It's the way your shoulders shake and what they're shaking for
I want you
it's knowing that he knows you now after only guessing
It's the thought of him undressing you or you undressing

I want you
He tossed some tattered compliment your way
I want you
And you were fool enough to love it when he said
I want you
I want you
The truth can't hurt you it's just like the dark
It scares you witless
But in time you see things clear and stark
I want you
Go on and hurt me then we'll let it drop
I want you
I'm afraid I won't know where to stop
I want you
I'm not ashamed to say I cried for you
I want you
I want to know the things you did that we do too
I want you
I want to hear he pleases you more than I do
I want you
I might as well be useless for all it means to you
I want you
Did you call his name out as he held you down
I want you
Oh no my darling not with that clown
I want you

I want you
You've had your fun you don't get well no more
I want you
No-one who wants you could want you more

I want you
I want you
I want you
Every night when I go off to bed and when I wake up
I want you
I'm going to say it again 'til I instill it
I know I'm going to feel this way until you kill it
I want you
I want you

...30 day challenge, day 16: song that makes you cry (or nearly)

~Jackson Browne, "Never Stop", acoustic version...listen here...lyrics here

~Grateful Dead, "Box of Rain"...listen here....lyrics here

~U2, "In a Little While" (listen here)

In a little while
Surely you'll be mine
In a little while... I'll be there
In a little while
This hurt will hurt no more
I'll be home, love

When the night takes a deep breath
And the daylight has no air
If I crawl, if I come crawling home
Will you be there?

In a little while
I won't be blown by every breeze
Friday night running to Sunday on my knees
That girl, that girl she's mine
Well I've known her since,
Since she was

A little girl with Spanish eyes
When I saw her first in a pram they pushed her by
Oh my, my how you've grown
Well it's been, it's been... a little while

ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

Slow down my beating heart
A man dreams one day to fly
A man takes a rocket ship into the skies
He lives on a star that's dying in the night
And follows in the trail, the scatter of light
Turn it on, turn it on, you turn me on

Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love
Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love
Slow down my beating heart
Slowly, slowly love

acoustically accurate...thanks jb

There are times, when I see you baby
lookin back the way we came
through some hard places, choices we made
you never held me to blame

You had some dreams when you were a girl
some ideas about the world
and you see how some things will never be the same
and how some things never change

And I remember, how you helped me, baby
and all the times you had my back
how you wrapped me in your sweetness and held my arms with your arms
when my train was off the track

Now I got some things that I wanna do
and I wanna do it with you
if you'll just stand by me and don't look back

And never stop comin up with all of that love from me
never stop comin with your faith in what a love can be
and never stop comin up with all of that love, keep on rising above
and never stop, comin up on the world love wants to see
the world love wants to see

And the world has been showing you how
it's no place for your tender heart now
In a world that keeps turning you down

only the heart knows where the strength can be found

and never stop comin up with all of that love from me
never stop comin with your faith in what a love can be
and never stop comin up with all of that love, keep on rising above
and never stop, comin up on the world love wants to see
the world love wants to see

Remember when you look into my eyes
I'm the one who took you by surprise
the time has come and gone and come back round again
and I'm still here to take you by surprise my friend

Show me your eyes, tell me again, where you want to go
now the night is blowing beneath your skin
and when you smile, I'm the richest man I know

Grateful Dead lyrics...box of rain

Look out of any window, any morning, any evening, any day.
Maybe the sun is shining, birds are singing,
No rain is falling from a heavy sky.

What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?

For this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk out of any doorway, feel your way, feel your way like the day before.
Maybe you'll find direction,
Around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you.

What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you are sleeping?
Then please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too.

Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear to another day,
Maybe been seen before, through other eyes on other days while going home.

What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?

It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon, long ago.

Walk into splintered sunlight,
Inch your way through dead dreams to another land.
Maybe you're tired and broken,
Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear

What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through?

A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.

Just a box of rain, wind and water,
Sun and shower, wind and rain,
In and out the window like a moth before a flame.

And it's just a box of rain, I don't know who put it there,
Believe it if you need it, or leave it if you dare.

And it's just a box of rain, or a ribbon for your hair;
Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

no line on the horizon (thanks U2)

Is it possible for an entire album of songs to relate to one person at one time in their life?  Or am I just imagining or wishing or expecting?  I agree with Stevie Wonder that songs are the key of life.  The poetry of motion of the soul and the heart.  The answers and questions of the particular moment you are listening.  Make them fit into your world and they feel better, the words feel like you and you feel better.
Whatever needs are needed can be comforted.  Build yourself a wall and good music knocks part of it down for you. Sing the music yourself and you fly into the next life.  Anything is possible with emotion of want and fear and creativity.  Vulnerability. Susceptibility. All can work for you if you let in your sound.

she's a rainbow and she loves the peaceful life...

it's not a hill it's a mountain as you start out your climb...

the sweetest melody is the one we haven't heard...

shout into the darkness, squeeze out sparks of light...

BEAUTY

And I share my songs through writing here...and there.  Talking doesn't cut it for me.  The right combination of thought falls from fingertips to keyboard easier than from mind to mouth.  Why is that? Why has this always worked for me, since childhood?  Am I hiding something from those who don't read me?  Am I perfecting a strength or developing a secret language?  My language.  The real me.  I'm just beginning this discovery, thus the forward momentum and the two deer turning the corner in the tall snowdrift.  Everything seems new today and tomorrow again.  Words spoken cannot describe.  Words spoken may not be interpreted correctly...see, secret language.  Words spoken are not always heard.  I'll stick with writing.

I write for me and a few others and this www.  It makes no sense to me but it feels like common sense.  And the people who appreciate my writing make sense to me.  Am I distancing myself from the non readers?  Am I looking at my world with new glasses on?  A fresh perspective is granted and I flap my wings a bit more...actually I develop my second wing and no longer fly in circles.  Amazing.  Thankful.

But I must land soon and return to the non writing world of daily routine.  A different part of me that craves to shout out and begs to make a sound, stays intact for 8 hours of responsibility.  I am proud of my discipline and surprised by my control.  Only 8 hours.

And only 8 more days...
